Frantoio Franci was founded in 1958 and is located in Italy, in the Southern Tuscany region in a small hilltop town on the slopes of the Amiata Mountains called Montenero d’Orcia. Brothers Franco and Fernando Franci purchased the famous Villa Magra olive grove and transformed the old barn into a Frantoio (olive oil-mill). In 1995, Fernando began to collaborate with his son Giorgio, and they transformed the Frantoio into the business it is today, where they focus on absolute quality and producing the best olive oil in the world. I was fortunate to meet Fernando on one of my visits to the Frantoio. He was dedicated to their special process of olive oil production and when he retired, he still came to the Frantoio every day that he could.

Villa Magra Grand Cru history:
As Fernando and Giorgio continued their quest to make the best olive oil in the world, in 2000, they decided to create a Grand Cru, made from the very best olives in a most unique terrain, called the Chiusello grove. This extra virgin olive oil is the result of a series of extremely careful orchard and tree selections. The Villa Magra is singled out for its elegance, smoothness and aroma, together with its exceptional chemical spectrum: more than 540 mg/kg of polyphenols (expressed in caffeic acid) guarantees an outstanding antioxidant content. Villa Magra Grand Cru is produced only in the best years and every single bottle is numbered, up to a maximum of 2.100 liters.
